Good to know
We’ve put together a little memo to help you feel good and comfortably on our island.
Viirelaid memo – Summer
What to bring?
- Sauna and hand towel – as we have to wash all our laundry in mainland and then transport it back to the island, then we ask you to take your own towel with you to help us. We can rent towels also, but it costs 3€ for you.
- We have a unisex sauna, so if you don’t want to be in the sauna with a towel, please bring your swimwear.
- Flip flops/crocs – with them it´s better to go swimming as we don’t have sandy beach here. They are also good in sauna area.
- Waterproof jacket – it rarely rains in summer but as you have to take boat ride here so we recommend to take a jacket with you.
- Mosquito repellent

Viirelaid memo – Fall/Winter
What to bring?
- Sauna and hand towel – as we have to wash all our laundry in mainland and then transport it back to the island, then we ask you to take your own towel with you to help us. We can rent towels also, but it costs 3€ for you.
- Two pairs of shoes – your feet may get wet as there are no paved roads on the island – actually, there are no roads at all. Given the unpredictable December weather, one pair should be waterproof, such as rubber boots or winter boots, depending on the forecast.
- Waterproof jacket
- Hat – the wind can sometimes be quite fierce.
- Warm clothes – since we’re far from the comforts of central heating, warm clothing is essential.
- We have a unisex sauna, so if you don’t want to be in the sauna with a towel, please bring your swimwear.
- Flip-flops for sauna – the floor in the sauna’s changing room may be cold, so this will add comfort.
- Slippers/wool socks – comfortable to wear indoors, as there’s no wood-fired floor heating yet.
- Sleepwear – for those sensitive to the cold, bringing sleepwear is recommended.
